Obituary

Peter Sopsic Jr.,51 Marion Villa,Belle Vernon,died Friday,March 25,1983,at 3:15 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital.  He was 68. Mr. Sopsic was born in Washington Twp.,Fayette County,on Dec. 11,1914,a son of the late Peter and Ella Stepovitch Sopsic Sr. He was Protestant by faith and served in World War II with the U.S.Army.  He was retired from Sadowski's Lumber Mill, Fairhope. Survivors include his wife,Swanee Smoot Sopsic;two step-sons,Harry Smoot,Trenton,N.J.,and John Smoot,Monongahela;two step-daughters, Mrs. Wilma Gaskill,Belle Vernon,and Mrs. Dutch Ann Kennedy,Fayette City;five grandchildren;one half-brother,George Kowasic,Fayette City;and two sisters,Mrs.Katherine Misher,Belle Vernon and Mrs. Frances Vernaccini,Belle Vernon. Friends will be received in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday all day.  Friends will also be received Monday until 1 p.m. when services will be held at the funeral home with Pastor James Gardner officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
