Peter Kovalsky; 82; of North Belle Vernon; died Friday; March 14; 2003; at 1:15 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born March 6; 1921; in Monessen; a son of the late Andrew and Anna Sovich Kovalsky. He was a resident of North Belle Vernon for the past 48 years. A member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; he was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Monessen Plant where he worked as an exhaust engineer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; Greek Catholic Union and was an avid bocci player at the Belle Vernon American Legion. Survivors include his wife; Mary Maguire Kovalsky; whom he was married to for 48 years; two sons and daughters-in-law; Pete and Linda Kovalsky of Mt. Pleasant; and Hugh and Lou Ann Kovalsky of Belle Vernon; two daughters and one son-in-law; Mary Igoe of South Hills; and Rose and Mark Souply of Fayette City; five grandsons; David Igoe; Matthew and Pete Kovalsky; Adam and Aaron Souply; two sisters and one brother-in-law; Elizabeth Snyder of Monessen; and Irene and Leonard Babinski of Monessen. He was preceded in death by one son; Francis Joseph Kovalsky in 1957; three brothers; Stephen Kovalsky; John Kovalsky; and Andrew Kovalsky; two sisters; Helen Kovalsky; and Margaret Chiprich. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; Family owned and operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon. 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home; followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. Internment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
