Obituary

Peter A.Bitonti,a district banking executive,was pronounced dead on arrival at 9 a.m.on Thursday,May 13,1976,at Somerset(Pa.)Community Hospital. Mr.Bitonti,who made his home at 921 Alice St.,Belle Vernon,was manager of the Rostraver Office of Equibank,a position he had held the past eight years. He was 46. Mr.Bitonti became ill while dressing for a seminar at Seven Springs Resort in Champion Thursday morning. He was attending an Equibank Management Team conference at Seven Springs. He was born in Belle Vernon on Nov.25,1929,a son of Mrs.Josephine Bitonti of Belle Vernon,who survives,and the late John Bitonti,who died in 1964. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict,where he served with the United States Navy from 1948 to 1952. Mr.Bitonti joined Equibank in 1962 and rose to the position of manager of the Rostraver Office on Sept.2,1968. He was a member of the Rostraver Twp.Business Association,Rostraver Lions Club,Washington Twp.Recreation Board,F&AM Lodge No.638 in Monessen,Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Pittsburgh,Syria Temple of Pittsburgh,Mon Valley Caravan No.17,and Fayette City American Legion Post 484. He also was president of the Belle Vernon Midget Football League. In addition to his mother,Mr.Bitonti is survived by his widow,Devina DeRose Bitonti,two sons,Peter A.Bitonti Jr.and David J.Bitonti,both at home,one daughter,Lisa Bitonti,at home,one brother,Dr.John Bitonti of Roscoe,and one sister,Mrs.Joseph (Arlene) Vargo of Fayette City R.D.1. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home in Belle Vernon from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m.Saturday and Sunday,May 15 and 16. Masonic services by Monessen F&AM Lodge 638 will be held Sunday at 8:30 p.m.in the funeral home. Prayer services will be held Monday,May 17,at 9:30 a.m.in the funeral home,followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian Catholic Church of Belle Vernon. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director in charge.
