Peter A. Cardelli; 84; of Belle Vernon; formerly of Monessen; died Monday; July 9; 2007; in Justine’s Personal Care Home; Allenport. Mr. Cardelli was born in Monessen on May 15; 1923; the son of the late Angelo and Louise Cardelli. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church; a 63-year member of American Legion Thomas McKee Post 28; V.F.W. Allison-Lescanac Post 1190; life member of the Italian Society of Mutual Aid; Disabled American Veterans; Belle Vernon Musical Society; Monessen Firemen’s Clubs No. 1 and 2; and the Ukrainian Club. Mr. Cardelli was retired from the former American Chain and Cable Co. Pages Division; in Monessen. He was a veteran of World War II; having served with the U.S. Army in the 134th Infantry; 35th Division in Northern France; Rhineland; Normandy; Asiatic-Pacific Theater and Philippine Liberation; receiving four Bronze Stars. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; Mary Olivio Cardelli; two sons; Jerry Cardelli; of Bethel Park; and Mark Cardelli; of Belle Vernon; a daughter; Darlene Cardelli; of Belle Vernon; a granddaughter; Cara Marie Iacoboni; of Belle Vernon; two sisters; Dolores Dee Cardelli Faia; of Santa Barbara; Calif.; and Rose Murphy; of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law; Doris Cardelli; of Royal Oak; Mich.; a brother-in-law; Joseph Olivio; of Monessen; an uncle; Tony Chardello and wife Rose; of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother; Edward Cardelli. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC.; 441 Reed Ave.; Monessen (724-684-8750). Services will be held Thursday; July 12; beginning with a 9:30 a.m. Blessing in the funeral home; followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church.
