Obituary

Paul L. Colborn,78,of 825 Belle St.,Belle Vernon (Lynnwood) died Saturday,July 15,2000, at 11:30 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital.  He was born May 25,1922,in Brownsville,a son of the late James LLoyd and Ethel Flanningan Colborn.He was a resident of Lynnwood for the past 45 years.  He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II,attaining the rank of staff sergeant while serving with the 147th regiment and the 47th combat engineers. His tour of duty in the south and central Pacific lasted three years.  He retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,where he worked in the construction department. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 Arden Calvert Post 167 VFW,Charleroi,and the Monessen Elks BPOE Lodge 0773. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Irene Cetto Colborn;two sons and daughters-in-law,David and Marsha Colborn of Phoenix,Arix.,and James Lloyd and Mary Sue Colborn of Rostraver township;two daughters and sons-in-law,Carol and Delmar Dinardo of Charleroi,and Linda C.and Richard Rohaly,of Williamsport,Pa.;10 grandchildren;and seven great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by one son,Paul L. Colborn Jr.;five brothers,Harry Rockwell Colborn,Donald Colborn,Lloyd Colborn,Charles Colborn,and Robert Colborn,in infancy;and six sisters,Louise Colborn Dearth,Stella Colborn,Aileen Colborn,Ruthanne Colborn Forsthye,Mary Colborn Gallert, and Lillian Colborn Morris.Friends were received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the LEONARD J.PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME,family owned and operated,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon.  A Prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,with the Rev. Donald P. Trexler,parochial vicar,as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery with Fayette City American Legion Post 484 conducting full military honors at graveside. St. Sebastian Legion of Mary will recite the Rosary Monday at 3 p.m., Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will hold services Monday at 7 p.m.,Arden Calvert Post 167 VFW,Charleroi will hold services Monday at 7:30 p.m.,Monessen Elks BPOE Lodge 0773 will hold services Monday at 8 p.m.,all in the funeral home.
