Obituary

Paul G. Colas, 84, of Monessen, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 in Jefferson Hills Manor. He was born April 24, 1922 in Monessen, son of the late Mark Colas and Laura Pappart Colas. He was a life member of Monessen Volunteer Fire Department No 1. Mr. Colas was a founding member of the Monessen Ambulance Service, which is now Mon Valley EMS. He had also served as a campground host at Kooser State Park and enjoyed camping, traveling and fishing. Mr. Colas was a veteran of World War II. He was an employee of U.S. Steel, Irving Works prior to his retirement. Surviving are two sons, Kevin Colas, of Monessen, and David Colas and companion Shirley, of West Pittsburgh, a brother, Art, of the state of California, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife, Ellanor Zadrozny Colas, a sister-in-law, Ilda Greenwood and a brother Leon Colas. Friends will be received Saturday, Dec. 16 at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the time of services in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mr. Colas' name may be made to: Monessen Fire Dept. No. 1 through the funeral home.
