Obituary

Paul Brown Sr.,of the Belle Vernon Apartments,died Wednesday,Nov. 5,1980 at 9:15 p.m. at the Willis Center of the South Hills Health System of Homestead following an illness of one year.  He was 76. Mr. Brown was born Nov. 30,1903,in Pittsburgh,a son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Daniel Henry Brown.  He retired Jan. 31,1969,after 47 years of dedicated service as a steelworker at the Clairton Works of U.S. Steel Corp.  He also was a member of Mon Valley Association of Retired Steelworkers (MARS) of Monessen. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Brown,on July 23,1961,and a son,Walter C. Brown Sr.,on July 25,1979. Survivors include two sons,Paul L. Brown Jr. and Earl Robert Brown,both of Philadelphia;four daughters, Mrs. Helen Hughes,Henrietta Brown and Sylia Brown,all of Pittsburgh,and Shirley Brown of Monessen;40 grandchildren,21 great-grandchildren,and many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives. Friends will be received in the Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home,608 Sixth St.,Monessen on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. The remains will be taken to the Speer Street A.M.E. Church,Belle Vernon,on Sunday at 2 p.m. and friends will be received until 9 p.m.  Services will be held Monday,Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Timothy Combs officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Draper funeral directors in charge.
