Obituary

Pat Patterson,of House 228,Arnold City,Washington township,is dead and his allegedly common-law-wife,Mary Cranford,20,is in the city jail to await the outcome by a coroner's jury.  Patterson, according to reports, returned home from work Monday afternoon,September 22,1930,shortly after 2 o'clock and engaged in an argument with the woman, which culminated in the shooting.  Patterson was shot first in the arm and leg.  The man and woman are then said to have continued their scuffle into the yard of the one-story two room dwelling, where a shot, said to have been fired by the woman, pierced Patterson's heart, causing instant death.  The woman claims,it is said, that Patterson went for the gun but that she reached it first.  The case was investigated by County Detective A.A.Downing and Coroner S.A.Baltz,while the arrest was made by Private Charles Hanna of the Stae Police and Roy Brown.  Mr.Patterson was removed to the Melenyzer morgue at Belle Vernon.
