Obituary

Owen E. Harden,57,of Fairhope,died Tuesday morning,January 27,1959,at 3:50 o'clock at his home.  He was a former Monessen resident. Born in Deemston Borough,Aug.16,1901,he was a member of the Marion Presbyterian Church and charter president of the Washington Twp.Lions Club.  He moved to Fairhope in 1947 from Monessen.  He was an agent for the Prudential Insurance Co.from 1930 until he was retired due to illness in 1952. Survivors include his wife,Elsie;three sons,Melvin Harden of Fairhope;William Smith of Monongahela and Samuel Smith of Ashland,Ohio;two daughters,Mrs. James (Gertrude) McDonald of Altoona and Mrs.Herman (Virginia) Ermlick of Fairhope;four brothers,Roger Harden of Sandy Plains,Gleason and Eldon,both of Deemston Borough and Bradnell of Washington,Pa.;three sisters,Mrs. Gladys Harton of Washington,Pa.,Mrs. Dorothy Hupp of Deemston Borough and Mrs. Kululu Gossett of Frederickton and 14 grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,after 2 p.m. Wednesday.  Funeral home visiting hours are from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.  Funeral services will be conducted on Friday,Jan. 30,at 1:30 p.m.from the funeral home,with the Rev. James Geisey,pastor of the Marion Presbyterain Church officiating.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Shelby D. Freguson,funeral director.
