Obituary

Oscar Gordan,66,of 44 Zundel St.,Pricedale,died Sunday,May 28,1989,in the emergency room of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born May 19,1923,in Connellsville,a son of the late Arthur and Mabelle Callaway Gordan. He was employed with Stern Furniture Co.until his retirement. He was a resident of the Pricedale area most of his life,formerly living in Connellsville. He was a member of the Pleasant Green A.M.E.Church,Pricedale,where he served as head steward and as a Sunday school teacher. He was active in all church functions and was a member of Teamsters Local Union 872. He was a U.S.Army veteran. Survivors include his wife,Ida Carson Gordan,one daughter,Evelyn Gordan of Chicago,one brother,William Gordan of Long Beach,Calif.,and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the Pleasant Green A.M.E.Church,Pricedale,where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m.with Rev.Robert L.Bailey,pastor,as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,the family suggests donations be made to the Pleasant Green A.M.E.Church. The William R.Taylor Funeral Home,645 McMahon Ave.,Monessen,is in charge of the arrangements.
