Norman E. Atkinson,52,of Belle Vernon R.D.,died Thursday,March 21,1996,in Mercy Hospital,Pittsburgh,after a very short illness. Born Aug. 18,1943,in North Charleroi,he was the son of the late Norman Atkinson and Katherine Marckovich Atkinson,of Belle Vernon,who survives. Mr. Atkinson was a truck driver for OCS Trucking Company,Bentleyville. He was Catholic by faith. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army. Surviving,in addition to his mother,are his wife, Agnes Sthiel Atkinson;two sons,Norman E. Atkinson III and Eric Atkinson,both of Belle Vernon;three sisters, Dulcie Smith of West Newton,Joy Pozum of Belle Vernon and KathyYowonske of North Carolina;and three brothers,David Atkinson and Leonard Atkinson,both of Belle Vernon,and Howard Atkinson of Texas. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.,Sunday from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until 12:30 p.m. in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City. A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Monday,followed by a Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. in Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City,with the Rev.Richard E. Mackiewicz as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home.
