Obituary

Norman Haywood,age 28,of Dunlevy,an employee of the West Penn Power Company,was electrocuted at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon,July8,1931,when he came in contact with a primary line while working on a pole at Bentleyville.  In company with Kermit Coulson,of Charleroi,also an employee of the West Penn,he was on a pole making arrangements to furnish additional power for lights at the Bentleyville Camp Meeting grounds when in some unknown manner his forearm came in contact with the primary line of high voltage.  He was seen to suddenly fall backwards but was saved from being thrown to the ground by his safety belt. Coulson, with other employees released the victim and brought him to the ground, where first aid methods were used without avail for four hours. Only two slight burns were noted on the forearm of the victim.  The young man had been employed as a lineman by the West Penn for the past nine years.  Besides his parents,Mr.and Mrs. Frank Haywood of Dunlevy,he is survived by three sisters,Margaret,Florence,a teacher in the Ninth street schools here and Doris;also two brothers, Ray and Thomas. Funeral services will be held from the United Presbyterian Church at Dunlevy,Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock with interment in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
