Obituary

Ninfa Julia Massey, 83, of Belle Vernon, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 9, 2024. She passed peacefully with her family at her bedside at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. She was born on June 18, 1940, in Charleroi. She is the wife of the late Jules M. Massey Sr.; they married in July of 1968. Jules, the love of her life, predeceased her on Dec. 10, 2023. She is the youngest daughter of the late Pete Pennline and Frances Scardina Pennline of Charleroi and was the last surviving member of Pete’s children. Ninfa was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was always known as “Fuffy” to her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, greatnieces and great-nephews. A graduate of Charleroi High School, she spent most of her time in the local dance studio. Growing up in a musical family, she also studied voice and piano. She was a soloist, choir director and keyboardist at church. While raising her children, she worked her way up to area manager in Home Interiors for over 35 years. After designing and sewing her daughters’ prom dresses, she became a popular seamstress, which led to owning and operating her bridal store, Divine Designs, in her hometown of Charleroi from 1989 to 1994. From that time and up through her last months of life, she was still called upon to use her seamstress skills. She was endlessly creating from crocheting to floral arrangements and jewelry, but her favorite was preparing the special desserts and Italian recipes handed down to her with her ever-growing family that will miss her dearly. Ninfa was a strong, ever hopeful, vibrant personality. She simply lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed shopping at Aldi and had a strong love for animals. She was known for her determination, eagerness to make a new friend and words of encouragement. She was immensely proud of her family. She loved being a part of her local church. It was her happy place. Ninfa was a member of the HOPE Church worship team and prayer ministry and helped with various community outreaches. She always gave the best hugs. Ninfa leaves behind a loving family including her five children, Alicia (Terry) Santoro of Perryopolis, Chris (Gail) Humes of Houston, Texas, Jules (Lorrie) Massey Jr. of Fayette City, Julie (Paul Reed) Anders of Cape Coral, Fla., and Christopher (Kelly) Massey of Perryopolis; 14 grandchildren, Chelsy (Joshua) Kemp, Kylie (Michael) Horrell, Zachary (Shykila) Santoro, Mallory (Joseph) Scalise, Hannah Santoro- Laing, Elijah Santoro, Grace (Chase) Humes, Katlyn Massey, Caleb Massey, Jacob (Amanda) Anders, Emily (Levy) Montes de Oca, Morgan (Anthony) Lucketti, Christopher (girlfriend, Maria Gagetta) Massey Jr., and Mackenzie (fiancé, Dylan Celaschi) Massey; and 14 great-grandchildren, Joshua Kemp Jr., Carmen and Lorenzo Scalise, Kalani and Karina Horrell, Kingsly Laing, Antonio, Liliana, Maximus and Benjamin Anders, Brinnleigh, Rhett and Asher Roberts and Levi Lucketti. Douglas Pepper, Dr. Joseph Porreca and the staff at MVH CCU, as well as Pastor Jeff Marton and the HOPE Church family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at HOPE Church, 813 Fayette Ave., Belle Vernon.
