at 9:30 a.m. in Mercy
Hospital;Pittsburgh; after a
lingering illness.
Mrs. Stokes was a member of
St. James A. M. E. Church;
Charleroi.
She is survived by two daughters;
Mrs. Samuel (Elsie) Canady
of New Kensington; Mrs.
John (Beatrice) Pettiford of
Pittsburgh; a son; Edward
Stokes of Donora; two sisters;
Mrs. Fred McMillan of Cleveland;
Ohio; and Mrs. Helen Rameriz
of Monessen; a brother;
Kenneth R. Simpson of Harrisburg;
15 grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and an
adopted daughter; Mrs. Eva
Steele of Pittsburgh.
Friends will be received at William R.Taylor Funeral Home;Monessen;after 7 p.m. March 3. Service In the funeral
home chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday; March
5; with the Rev. Paul Polk of Pittsburgh
officiating. He will be assisted by the
Rev. H. Coffey of Belle Vernon. Interment;
Belle Vernon Cemetery. William R. Taylor is the funeral director in charge of arrangements.
