Obituary

Nick (Pap-Pap) Pozum of the Belle Vernon Apartments died Monday,May 20,1985,at 4:30 p.m. at his home following a lengthy illness. He was 67. Born in Washington Township,Fayette County,Oct.25,1917,he was a son of the late Jacob and Anna Slotta Pozum. Mr.Pozum was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. He belonged to the U.M.W.of A.L.U.,Gateway Mine in Greene County and was a retired coal miner. Mr.Pozum had years of dedication to the Tamburitzans with a great deal of participation in the Blue Danube Orchestra. Surviving are his wife,Margaret Shimko Pozum of Belle Vernon,a son,Terry Pozum of Clarksville,Pa.,five daughters,Mrs.James (Mary Ann) Bricker of Cuyhoga Falls,Ohio,Mrs.Darlene Sowden and Mrs.Gerald (Carole) Gardner,both of Belle Vernon,Mrs.Larry (Paulette) Pohovich of Carmichaels and Mrs.Michael (Andrea) Pohlot of Fayette City,nine grandchildren,two great-grandchildren,a brother,James Pozum of Belle Vernon and a sister,Mrs.Anna Shelleby of Pittsburgh. Private viewing for family members will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,where a church vigil will be held on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Private funeral services will be held Thursday,May 23,at 10 a.m. at St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
