Obituary

Nicholas Zabawsky,85,of 143 Homewood Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,Nov.23,1971,at 5 p.m.in his home. Mr.Zabawsky was a resident of Belle Vernon for the last 27 years and previously had lived in Donora. He was born in Galicia,Poland,on Dec.6,1885. Mr.Zabawsky retired 15 years ago as a coal miner. He was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church of Lynnwood. Preceded in death by his wife,Mary,on Oct.1,1971,he is survived by four sons,Wassil of Moravia,N.Y.,Samuel of Belle Vernon,Steve of Houston,Tex.,and Andrew of Charleroi,one daughter,Mrs.Anna Serbak,at home,seven grandchildren,two brothers,Steve Zabawsky of Pittsburgh and Myron of Shamokin,three sisters,Mrs.Katherine Chaweanee of Benld,Ill.,Mrs.Julia Ehnatko of Charleroi and a sister in Poland. Friends will be received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,after 7 p.m.Wednesday and on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Parastas services will be held Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m. A Blessing service will be held Friday,Nov.26, 1971,at 8:30 a.m.at the funeral home,followed by Divine Liturgy at 9 a.m.in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church with the Rev.John Kluchko,pastor,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director in charge.
