Obituary

Nellie Dobosh Racey, 91, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, in her home. Born April 29, 1920, in Naomi, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Helen Samosky Dobosh. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mrs. Racey was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, was a homemaker, enjoyed playing bingo, flowers and gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Floyd Racey, to whom she was married 62 years, two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Ronald Coates, of Greenville, Pa., Beverly and George Duda, of Sandy Hook, Va., two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Janet Baron, of Washington Township, Richard Racey, of Belle Vernon, sister, Laura Pankiewicz, of Arnold City, eight grandchildren, Robin Haney, Lynne and Christine Coates, Eric and Aaron Duda, Lee Baron, Robert and Ronald Wood, 14 great-grandchildren, Jill and Ed Haney, Zachary Coates, Savannah and Natalie Duda, Hayden, Landen and Ethan Baron, Jonathan, Jaclyn, Jocelyn, Kiera and Caressa Wood, Josh Valdiserri, two sisters-in-law, Julia Dobosh and Betty Lamp, brother-in-law, Alvin Hazen, her loving dog, Lucky, and a special friend, Cheryl Donaldson. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Rudolf Baron, two brothers, John and Stanley Dobosh, and a sister, Mary Hazen. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 8, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, (724) 929-6183. Prayer service will be held Thursday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick, pastor as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Nellie Racey Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
