Nelda Ruth Heckman,75,of Spring Hill,Fla.,died Saturday,Aug. 28,1999,in her home. She was born June 7,1924,in Speers, a daughter of the late Harry & Edna Griffith Godfrey. She was a former member of st.Sebastian's Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,and had resided in Florida since 1992. She was a teacher at the Marion Elementary School in the Belle Vernon Area School District until her retirement in 1992. Survivors include one grandson,William Thomas Heckman III of Keyser,W.Va.;one brother,James Godfrey of Newark,Ohio;one sister,Shirley Tomargo of Charleroi;and one daughter-in-law,Jeannette Beavers. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her husband, William Heckman;one son,William T. Heckman II;and one granddaughter,Jodie Heckman. A memorial service will be held Saturday,Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of belle Vernon Cemetery. Burial will be in belle Vernon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon.
