Obituary

Myrtle Van Riper Gaul of 704 Fayette Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Sunday,Dec.16,1984,at 4:40 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Twp. She was 85. Mrs.Gaul was born Aug.9,1899,in Fayette City,a daughter of the late William and Charolette Elder Van Riper. A lifeling resident of the Belle Vernon area,she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon and its Martha Circle. Mrs.Gaul taught for 34 years at the Gillespie,and Marion schools. She was past president of the Women's Auxiliary of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband,Stewart Gaul,Feb.18,1964,four brothers,Clyde Elder and William,Arthur and Roy VanRiper,and one sister,Mildred Brewer. Survivors include two daughters,Mrs.Louis (Connie) Ceccarelli of Belle Vernon and Mrs. Robert (Jackie) Baldwin of Belle Haven,Va.,five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Wednesday,Dec.19,at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Thomas St.Clair,pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Belle Vernon Public Library. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
