Monna K. McFadyen, 85, of Bentleyville, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in Transitions Healthcare, Washington. She was born December 14, 1930, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Walter J. and Mary Ellen Rhodes Kurtz. Mrs. McFadyen was a graduate of Bentleyville High School and California University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education. She was a 4th grade teacher in the Bentworth School District for more than 35 years, retiring in 1986. Mrs. McFadyen attended First Presbyterian Church of California, Pa., was a member of Eastern Star Monessen Chapter 205, PSEA Retired, and Bentleyville Public Library Board of Trustees for many years. She was the wife of the late George D. McFadyen, who died September 20, 2012. Surviving are a brother, W. Ronald Kurtz (Julia) of Scenery Hill; a nephew, Ronald J. Kurtz (Mary Anne) of Pittsburgh; and a niece, Mary Jo McAnulty (Bruce) of Bentleyville. Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are two brothers, William and Dale Kurtz. Private services were held Friday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville. Entombment followed in Belle Vernon Cemetery, with the Rev. Candace Cook officiating.
