She was born Dec.31;1906;in Monessen;a daughter of the late Martin A.and Elizabeth V.Reeves Crawford. She was a lifelong resident of Monessen. She was a retired elementery school teacher in the Monessen School District. She was a graduate of California Normal School. She was a member of United Methodist Church;Monessen;where she had been a member of the fellowship class. She was a member of the Monessen Chapter 205 of the Order of the Eastern Star;where she had been a past matron and treasurer. She was an advisory board member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was a member of the AARP and the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include her husband of 64 years;Raymond E.Scales;one daughter;Mrs.Donald (Elizabeth Jean) Makovich;one granddaughter;Mrs.Thomas (Kathleen Jean) White of West Newton;and two great-grandsons;Nathan and Joseph White. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.;1209 Grand Blvd.;Monessen;where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.William O.Anderson officiating.
