Obituary

Millie Poli Angelo, 91, of North Belle Vernon, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at 1 a.m. in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Nov. 25, 1915, in North Belle Vernon, she was a daughter of the late Gregory and Maria Chipparone Poli, and her step-mother, Vincenza Scanga Poli. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon, Mrs. Angelo was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, a graduate of Belle Vernon High School, class of 1932, the St. Sebastian Legion of Mary, St. Anthony Society, Anita Garibaldi of Belle Vernon, where she was named as a Mother of the Year, member and past regent of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Belle Vernon 1522, and a member of the Westmoreland County Elections Board for over 42 years. She was known as the personal secretary for the former mayor of North Belle Vernon, the late Pat Angelo. Mrs. Angelo also was part owner of Pat's Dairy Bar in North Belle Vernon from 1947 to 1960, and she worked at the former Miller's Department Store in Charleroi for 13 years. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Regina Angelo, of Rostraver Township, granddaughter, Kristen Cooney and husband Kevin, of Rostraver Township, and a great-grandson, Evan Cooney. She is preceded in death by her husband, Patsy Angelo, in 1979, her daughter, Patricia Ann Angelo, and a sister, Carrie Tignanelli. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Charles P. Esposito, parochial vicar, and the Rev. Ronald Simboli as concelebrants. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Millie Angelo on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
