Thomas L. “Hammer” Igoe, 73, of Fairhope, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Terrace Health & Rehab Center in Uniontown. A son of the late David and Jean (Baron) Igoe he was born September 13, 1952 in Fairhope (Belle Vernon).
Tom or “Hammer” as he was known by his family and friends, was a lifelong resident of Fairhope and worked as a laborer for Clint Manown Construction for many years and A.R.A. Construction Company until his retirement. He was an avid sports enthusiast who played many different sports including basketball and softball. His favorite sports teams included the Steelers, Pirates and Boston Celtics. He started on the Fairhope Varsity team in 1972 playing softball. Thomas also played in many world class softball tournaments over the years for Just A Tavern, Washington Township Fireman’s Lounge, Draft House, Mint Lounge, Pappy’s, and the Russian Club. Hammer was also a member of the Russian Club, Naomi Club and Musical Society.
Survivors include his daughter, Cydney(Joshua) Igoe of Belle Vernon, two grandchildren, Ayden and Dayne Igoe, two sisters, Cindy (Bob) Basile of Perryopolis and Rosalie McFall of Belle Vernon, four nieces, Ronette (Rick) Anden, Mindi (Ryan) Ruokonen, Erika (Dan) Atkinson, Lesley (Jason) Lubrani, and three nephews, Robert (Nina) Basile, Ryan Igoe and Thomas Igoe.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, David W. Igoe in 2017.
Friends will be received on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 2 to 5 P.M. in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300. www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home on Saturday at 5 P.M. with Pastor Earl Rosenbalm officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
