Obituary

Miley Miles Kupirovich, 79, of Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005. He was known to friends as Mitch and to his grandchildren as Pap-Pap. The son of the late Nicholas and Mary Kupirovich, Miley was born Feb. 4, 1926, in Fayette County, where he lived his entire life. He retired in 1994 from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Allenport Plant, as an electrician, and he also was a professional jeweler. Miley was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and honorably discharged in 1945 as a Private First Class. He was a deeply patriotic Democrat. Miley belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Fayette City and Belle Vernon chapters of the American Legion, and the Fairhope Rod & Gun Club. Miley took a great interest in American history, especially the Civil War, and made frequent trips to significant historical sites in the United States. He also was a member of The Smithsonian Institute. Of Serbian and Russian heritage, he traveled to Eastern Europe to research his lineage and spoke fluent Serbian. He cared deeply for animals and was a member of The Humane Society. Miley loved gardening and greeted all visitors to his home in Lynnwood with meals and fresh salads from his garden. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lana Kupirovich, three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Michael McCormick, of Greensburg, Mila and Robert Zuro, of Belle Vernon, and Milene and Richard Bianco, of Washington, D.C., and five grandchildren, Joshua Sekoski, of New York, Paul Zuro, of Belle Vernon, Jarrod Sekoski, of Greensburg, Sasha Zuro, of Belle Vernon, and Isabella Bianco, of Washington, D.C. Friends will be received in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City (724-326-5621), on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 10, until 10 a.m., the hour of service in the funeral home with Pastor John Custer officiating.
