Obituary

Mildred Tomasso Stringhill, 93, of Donora, formerly of Belle Vernon, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at 1:15 a.m. at Kenric Manor, Donora. Born Nov. 4, 1910, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Donato and Carmela Malgeri Tomasso. Mrs. Stringhill was a life-long resident of Belle Vernon, a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, and she was the owner/operator of the former New Deal Tavern in North Belle Vernon until 1972. Mrs. Stringhill also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 1522, the former Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 Ladies Auxiliary and the Legion of Mary, St. Sebastian Church. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carmella and William Janeri of Lancaster, Ohio, one brother, Cazmear Thompson of Florida, two sisters, Anna McCune of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Marie Perry of Donora, three grandchildren, Lori Watts and husband Gary, John Janeri and wife Jean and J. William Janeri and wife Jacquelyn, and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Stringhill, in 1974, three brothers, Nicholas Thompson, Daniel Tomaso and Samuel Thompson, and one sister, Elizabeth Lipari. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A prayer service will be held Monday, Dec. 1, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Ronald Cyktor Jr., parochial vicar, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Mildred Stringhill on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
