Mildred E.Columbus of Stahlstown;Pa.;formerly of Monessen;died Thursday;April 25;1985;in Greensburg;Pa. She was 82. Mrs.Columbus was born May 11;1902;in Braddock;Pa.;a daugther of the late Homer Ernest Steiner and Rachel Shank Steiner. She formerly operated a restaurant in Monessen. She and her late son;Melvin;established The Pie Shoppe in Laughlintown near Ligonier in 1947 and she was active in its operation until her retirement. Mrs.Columbus was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Stahlstown. She was preceded in death by her husband;Clarence;and by her son Melvin;who died in 1970;and by three sisters and one brother. Surviving are a daughter-in-law;Mrs. Glea Columbus of Stahlstown;Pa.(with whom she made her home);three grandsons;James;Robert and Tom;five great-grandchildren;one brother;Ralph Steiner;of Canonsburg;Pa.;and one sister;Mrs.Carl (Dorothy) Rowe;of Yellow Springs;W.Va.; Friends will be received at the L.Boyd Snyder Funeral Home;Inc.;Route 711;Stahlstown;Pa.;Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home;with the Rev.Hughie G.Orsborn;pastor;Trinity United Methodist Church;Stahlstown;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery;Belle Vernon;Pa. The L.Boyd Snyder Funeral Home;Inc.;is in charge of arrangements.
