Obituary

Mike Wassilchalk, 98, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at 10:55 a.m. at Thorpe's Personal Care, North Charleroi. Born Nov. 21, 1916, in Pricedale, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Anna Pysh Wassilchalk. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Wassilchalk was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Monessen, was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, where he worked in the chipping department and was a member of the Belle Vernon Golden Age Assembly. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Carole Wassilchalk Jr. of North Belle Vernon; daughter and son-in-law, Rose Marie and Edward Lesovic of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren, Alice and Christian Breckenridge of Belle Vernon, Mark and Gala Wassilchalk of Somerset, Donna Wassilchalk of Belle Vernon, and Scott Lesovic of Belle Vernon; and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Breckenridge, Thomas Breckenridge and Tanner Wassilchalk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Tadavich Wassilchalk on Jan. 17, 2001; five brothers, Steve, John, Andrew, Daniel, and Pete Wassilchalk; and four sisters, Theresa Belsick, Pearl Makar, Anna Tallerico and Mary Bashada. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Monessen, with the Rev. Stephen J. Wahal as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Mary's church will pray the rosary Friday at 2:30 p.m., and the North Belle Vernon Fire Department will conduct services Friday at 7 p.m., both in the funeral home.
