Mike Stanish;90;of 1027 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;formerly of Marion Villa;Arnold City;died Thursday;April 24;1986;at 6:45 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. Mr.Stanish was born May 4;1895;in Poland;a son of the late Paul and Pauline Stanish. He was a charter member and a life member of the Washington Township Fire Department. Mr.Stanish was also a member of the Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Asociation;the Fayette County Firemen’s Association and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chiefs Association. He retired in March 1953 from the Black Diamond Mine of the Hillman Coal Company;and was a member of the United Mine Workers. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Rose Higgins Stanish;in 1945;and by a brother and a sister;Samuel Stanish and Theresa Moslek. Survivors include one daughter;June Bergman of Belle Vernon with whom he made his home;one brother;Joseph Stanish of St.Petersburg;Fla.;four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Monday;April 28;at 10 a.m. with the Rev.Donald Swanson;pastor of Lynnwood Lutheran Church;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Washington Township Volunteer Fird Department will hold services Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
