Obituary

 

Michael (Mike) Wenick,56,of Charleroi R.D.2,formerly of Brownsville,died suddenly on Saturday May 18,1968,at Eldred,Pa.,while on a fishing trip.   He was born in Williamsburg,Pa.,June 15,1911,a son of John and Elsie Feck Wenick.  He was a member of St.Nicholas Greek Catholic Church of Brownsville,and the Smithton Sportsmen's Club,and was employed at the Allenport plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co.  He was a veteran of World War II,serving in the Rhineland and Central Europe with the 88th Ordnance Heavy Maintenance Co.  He is survived by his widow,Mary Turik Wenick,and the following brothers and sisters,Mrs.Elsie Hartzell of Elizabeth,John Jr.and Mary Wenick of Brownsville,and George Wenick of Belle Vernon,and several nieces and nephews.  Another brother,Joseph Wenick,preceded him in death.  Friends are being received at the Andrew J.Skirpan Funeral Home,Park Ave.,Brownsville.  Prayer service will be held there Tuesday,May 21,at 9 a.m.,followed by Divine Liturgy at St.Nicholas Greek Catholic Church,Brownsville.  The Rev.Demetrus Yackarich will be the celebrant,and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.   Parastas service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday night at 7 o'clock.  Andrew J.Skirpan of Brownsville is the funeral director.
