Obituary

Michael Mike Kotora, 89, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord with his family by his side at Thorpe's New Dawn Personal Care Home, North Charleroi, on Sunday, July 18, 2004. A son of the late Michael and Barbara Mataj Kotora, he was born in Van Voorhis on Aug. 23, 1914. Mr. Kotora was a member and former trustee and elder of the Marion Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and a member of the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Monessen. Formerly of Monessen, he resided in Belle Vernon for the past 33 years and retired in 1976 with 50 years of service in the B.O.F department at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Victor Echols and one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Frances Kotora, all of Belle Vernon, one sister, Barbara Tomochick of Tucson, Ariz., two brothers, Andrew Kotora of Washington, Pa., and Joseph Kotora of Monessen, four grandchildren, Michael, Michelle and John Michael Kotora, all of Belle Vernon, and George Barney and wife Mary Jo of Weirton, W.Va., and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan Barney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sarik Kotora, on July 30, 2001, and two sisters, Ann Torkos and Suzanna Linski. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, (724-929-5300), a Golden Rule Member Firm, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. A memorial service will be held in the Marion Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, July 22, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. William Lawson officiating. Entombment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Marion Presbyterian Church.
