Michael Mike Babich; 89; of Jefferson Township; Fayette City; died Monday; Dec. 3; 2001; in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Dec. 1; 1912; in Washington Township; a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Benyak Babich. He was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Brownsville. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Monessen plant; and was a Jefferson Township supervisor for 18 years. He was preceded in death by five brothers; Charles; John; Frank; Joseph and Andrew Babich; and two sisters; Ellen Barota and Mary Blanchard. Surviving are his wife; Margaret Honeycheck Babich; children; Sandy Babich Gallo and husband Joe of Newell and Margaret Ann Babich Peters and husband Ed of Jefferson Township; two brothers; Paul and Samuel Babich; and two sisters; Madeline Zubricky and Elizabeth Bednar. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Jenifer Gallo and Megan Peters. Friends will be received in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC.; 334 Main St.; Fayette City; from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday; 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday; and until 9:30 a.m. Friday; when a blessing service will take place followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church; Brownsville; with the Rev. Father Vincent Gigliotti as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
