Michael L.Slavik of 1266 Rostraver St.;Monessen;died Sunday;Jan.14;1979 at 8:34 p.m.in Mon Valley Hospital following a one-week illness. Born Feb.27;1898 in Van Meter;he was a resident of Monessen for all of his life. He was retired from the Electrical Dept.of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Monessen plant and a member of Holy Name Church;Monessen;its Holy Name Society;and the Monessen Slovak Home. He was preceded in death by a brother;John Slavik;and a sister;Ann Slepchak. Surviving are his widow;Anna Delansky Slavik;two daughters;Mrs.Evelyn Potinga of South Park;Pittsburgh;Mrs.Eleanor Kovalsky of Mentor;Ohio;one brother;George Slavik of Youngstown;Ohio;six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Robert A.Billick Funeral Home;Grand Blvd.and Marion Ave.;Monessen;Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayer services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.in Holy Name Church;Monessen;with the Rev.James F.Petrovsky;pastor;as celebrant. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
