Obituary

Michael A. Bendie,aged 55 years, a veteran of World War I,who served under the late Col. James Geo with Monongahela's Co. A contingent of "The Fighting Tenth" and was wounded in battle, died Wednesday afternoon, March 24,1948 at four o'clock at the United States Veterans' Hospital at Aspinwall, where he had been a patient for about three weeks;he had been ill but a short time. A resident of 300 Broad avenue, Belle Vernon,the deceased had lived all his life there;he was born April 13,1892. A Past Commander of Post 659,Belle Vernon American Legion,he was a member also of Leone Post 62,Society of the Twenty-Eighth Division of Pennsylvania,having served with the 110th Infantry; his religious affiliation was with St. Sebastian's R.C.Church of Belle Vernon. Surviving are his wife,Rachel,and a daughter,Jo Ann,at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Bandini of Belle Vernon and two brothers, Arthur and John. Friends are being received at the Toner Funeral Home,626 Broad ave.,Belle Vernon.  The Reverend Eugene Harkins,pastor at St. Sebastian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
