Obituary

Metro Smichnick,926 Brown St.,North Belle Vernon,died Thursday,Sept.4,1980, at 12:43 a.m. in McKeesport Hospital. He was 66. Born Nov.2,1913 in North Belle Vernon,he was the son of the late Samuel and Eva Novak Smichnick. He was a life-long resident of North Belle Vernon. Mr.Smichnick retired in 1968 as an employee in the coke plant of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Monessen Plant. He was Russian Orthodox by faith. Survivors include a daughter,Mrs.Gregory (Linda) Brletich of Fellsburg,two sons,Samuel M.Smichnick of North Belle Vernon and James W.Smichnick of Los Alamitos,Calif.,,three brothers,John and Bill Smichnick,both of Belle Vernon and Joe Smichnick of Monongahela,three sisters,Mrs.Ed (Mary) Donnini of Jeannette and Mrs.Mike (Ann) Mongelluzzo and Mrs.Sirio (Jewell) Sasselli,both of Donora,four grandchildren,Suzanne and Jessica Smichnick and Gregory and Barbara Brletich,and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a brother,Mike,in 1979. Friends will be received in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home,with the Rev.John Kluchko,pastor of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church,Belle Vernon. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Leonard J.Parzynski,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
