Obituary

Melvin Vincent Renkey,of 609 Speers Ave.,Charleroi (Speers Hill),died Thursday,Oct.30,1997,at 3:30 p.m.in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. Born Aug.12,1912,in Pittsburgh,he was a son of the late Stanislov and Anna Renkey. He was a graduate of Duquesne University. Mr.Renkey had resided in Speers since 1975,moving there from Belle Vernon. He retired in 1973 from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.Allenport plant,where he was superintendent in the shipping department of the strip mill. Survivors include his wife,Betty Revala Renkey,a son and daughter-in-law,Melvin A.and Maria Renkey of Philadelphia,four daughters and three sons-in-law,Betty Ann and Donald Martin of Hendersonville,N.C.,Mary Lou and David Katz of Pittsburgh,Barbara Jean and John Weston of Margate,Fla.,and Linda Ringstad of Belle Vernon,a stepdaughter and son-in-law,Carol and Jerry Chambers of Alexandria,Va.,14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his first wife,Louise Schwarzkopf Renkey,two brothers,Edmund and William Renkey,and three sisters,Helen Czolla,Genevieve Renkey and Sister Sophia Renkey. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m.with the Rev.Rex Wasser of the Speers United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
