Obituary

Melvin P.Thrasher,51,of Lorain,Ohio,and formerly of Arnold City,Belle Vernon,died on Sunday,June 3,1990,at 6 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Arnold City on June 11,1938, son of the late Weldon and Cora Dupree Thrasher. Mr.Thrasher was Protestant by faith,and served in the U.S.Air Force from 1956-60. He was employed as a steelworker in Lorain. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by two brothers,Stephen in 1976 and Richard in 1990. MR.Thrasher is survived by a close friend,Ora Williams of Lorain,five sisters,Shirley Thrasher of Detroit,Sylvia Joyner of Las Vegas,Millisent Sellers and Sonia Parker,both of Arnold City,and Kathy Wilson of Rochester,N.Y.,one sister-in-law,Debbie Thrasher of Brooklyn,N.Y.,one step-grandmother, Aggie Dupree of Belle Vernon,and numerous aunts,uncles,nieces,nephews,cousins. Friends will be received at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until 1 p.m. when services will be held in the funeral home with Pastor Nathan McCallister of Bethlehen Temple Church,Duquesne,Pa.,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
