Melvin P.Thrasher;51;of Lorain;Ohio;and formerly of Arnold City;Belle Vernon;died on Sunday;June 3;1990;at 6 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Arnold City on June 11;1938; son of the late Weldon and Cora Dupree Thrasher. Mr.Thrasher was Protestant by faith;and served in the U.S.Air Force from 1956-60. He was employed as a steelworker in Lorain. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by two brothers;Stephen in 1976 and Richard in 1990. MR.Thrasher is survived by a close friend;Ora Williams of Lorain;five sisters;Shirley Thrasher of Detroit;Sylvia Joyner of Las Vegas;Millisent Sellers and Sonia Parker;both of Arnold City;and Kathy Wilson of Rochester;N.Y.;one sister-in-law;Debbie Thrasher of Brooklyn;N.Y.;one step-grandmother; Aggie Dupree of Belle Vernon;and numerous aunts;uncles;nieces;nephews;cousins. Friends will be received at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until 1 p.m. when services will be held in the funeral home with Pastor Nathan McCallister of Bethlehen Temple Church;Duquesne;Pa.;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
