Obituary

Melvin J. Toth, 85, of Washington Township, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in his home. A son of the late John and Cora Smith Toth, he was born in Arnold City on Nov. 27, 1921. Protestant by faith, he was a member of Mon Valley Country Club and the Belle Vernon American Legion, Post 659. Melvin retired in 1981 from the Toth Bros. Market, Speers Hill, and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Dick Toth, one daughter, Barbara Moskala, of Washington Township, three grandchildren, Michelle L. Moskala, Gina Pore and Jaime Creech, five great-grandchildren, Hunter Battistone, Jared and Alyson Pore and Caitlyn and Caleb Creech, two sisters, Dorothy Pierce, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Margaret Forsini, of Finleyville, and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifford and Theresa Toth, and Joseph Toth, all of Belle Vernon, and Helen Toth, of Treasure Island, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Souleyret, in 1994, and four brothers, John, Thomas, Lou and Stephen Toth. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, a Golden Rule Member Firm, www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com, (724- 929-5300), 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Saturday, May 26, at noon with the Rev. Suzanne Currie officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of the Belle Vernon American Legion will meet in the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. to hold services.
