Melvin J. Anderson; 89; of Lynnwood; Belle Vernon; went to be with the Lord Tuesday; May 14; 2013; in Nevaeh Cove Personal Care Home. A son of the late Arnold and Edith Simon Anderson; he was born in Belle Vernon on April 24; 1924. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; he was a member of the Char-Belle Free Methodist Church and had retired from the Fisher Body Plant of General Motors. An avid rifle and bow hunter; Melvin also enjoyed motorcycles and was a veteran of the U.S. Army; having served during World War II; and had received the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze stars. Survivors include his wife of 66 years; Doris Fisher Anderson; one daughter and son-in-law; Cheryl and Joe Nagy of Belle Vernon; one son and daughter-in-law; Barry and Carla Anderson of Monongahela; and two grandchildren; Melanie Nagy of Belle Vernon and Cara Anderson of Canonsburg. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers; Arnold and Allen Anderson.
