Maxine A. Hawkins; 97; of Monessen; passed away on Thursday; Jan. 9; 2014; in Manor Care of McMurray. She was born March 3; 1916; in Monessen; a daughter of the late Alonzo Barton and Rose Potts Clingerman. She was a member of The First Christian Church of Monessen and had served her church as secretary and choir director. Surviving are her son; Thomas Hawkins II; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas Hawkins; and several brothers and sisters; and her Beagle; Duncan . A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday; Jan. 18; 2014; in the First Christian Church of Monessen with the Rev. Conrad Auel officiating. There will be no public visitation per Mrs. Hawkins’ request. Private interment will take place at the family’s convenience. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC.; Family Owned and Operated as a Member of the Golden Rule; 1209 Grand Blvd.; Monessen. Contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Monessen in Mrs. Hawkins’ name in lieu of flowers.
