Mary Elizabeth Betty Donovan;82;of 426 Jones St.;Belle Vernon;died Saturday;Jan.27;2001;at 4:20 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. Born Nov.1;1918 in Glassport;she was the daughter of the late James and Sicily Murphy Donovan. Mrs.Donovan lived most of her life in Alexandria;Va.;and was a resident of North Belle Vernon for the past 20 years and resided at the Residence at Hilltop for the past year. She was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and was retired from the U.S.State Department where she worked as an executive assistant to Secretary of State Dean Rusk and former President Lyndon B.Johnson. She was a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels;enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Tri-State Bridge League. She is survived by a niece;Elizabeth Flanagan and her husband Michael Mitchell of Blacksburg;Va; In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by a sister;Julia Flanagan in 1995. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J.PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME;family owned and operated;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon. Prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home;followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church;Belle Vernon;with the Rev.Donald P.Trexler as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. St.Sebastian Legion of Mary will recite the Rosary Monday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
