Obituary

Marye Louise Smith of 677 McKee Ave.,Monessen,died Thursday Aug.13,1981,at 12:45 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. She was 65. Mrs.Smith was born August 29,1915 in Terre Haute,Ind.,a daughter of Hazel Hill of Monessen and the late George W.Hill. She was a member of Union Baptist Church of Monessen and the Mon Valley Art Association. Mrs.Smith had written a short story called The Visitor which was published,and had worked several years on a noval called The Mirror . Survivors include her husband,Charles Smith,one son Jeffrey Smith of Monongahlea,two daughters,Myrna E.Garry and Lisa Smith,both of Monessen,four brothers,James Hill of Perryopolis,Eugene and George Hill,both of Monessen,and Bruce Hill of Cleveland,Ohio,two sisters,Hazel Garland of McKeesport and Doris Wheeler of Monessen,two grandchildren,and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father,Mrs.Smith was preceded in death by two brothers,Raymond and Crawford,and one sister,Alice Redding. Friends will be rceived on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the Smith residence,677 McKee Ave.,where a funeral service will be held Monday,Aug.17,at 11 a.m.with Dennis Foor of the Monessen Congregation of Jehovah Witnessses,and the Rev.Timothy Combs,pastor of Union Baptist Church,Monessen,officiating. Burial will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. The William R.Taylor Funeral Home,645 McMahon Ave.,Monessen,is in charge of arrangements.
