Obituary

Mary Hakulin Zazac, 85, of Monessen, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Jefferson Borough. Born Aug. 4, 1919, in Monessen, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Zeets Hakulin. A lifelong resident of Monessen, she was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Belle Vernon and a homemaker. There were six siblings in the family, and Mary was the older of two girls. She graduated from Monessen High School, and prior to the birth of her first child, she was employed in the accounting department of U.S. Steel in Homestead. Mary was a former member of St. John the Divine Orthodox Church in Monessen, where she was a member and past secretary of the Ladies Altar Guild and a member of the church choir. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Dianne Zazac of Pittsburgh, a daughter and son-in-law, Karlyn and Jack Bell of Rostraver Township, a brother, John Hakulin of Monessen, a granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Zazac of Pittsburgh, and a grandson, Carl Steven Zazac of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Zazac, on Dec. 13, 1994, three brothers, George, Steve and Michael Hakulin, and a sister, Anna Fedarko. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). Relatives and friends will gather Friday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church for funeral services with the Very Rev. John J. Kluchko officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. A Parastas service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
