Obituary

Mary Tkach of Belle Vernon died Wednesday,Aug. 5,1987,at 2:15 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital.  She was 87.  Mrs. Tkach was born Jan. 10,1900,in Olyphant,Pa.,a daughter of the late John and Effie Holod.  A former resident of Smithton,she had lived in Belle Vernon the past 15 years. In addition to her parents,Mrs. Tkach was preceded in death by her husband,Simon Tkach;two sons,Steven and Nicholas Tkach;and by two daughters, Mildred Podolak and Olga Kramer. Survivors include three sons,Alex and John Tkach,both of New York City,N.Y.,and Charles Tkach of Library;three daughters,Mrs. Craig (Pauline) Whitaker of Crafton,Mrs. Amos (Mary) Molek of Coal Center and Helen Tkach of Kittanning; six sisters,Ann Chayben of Mt. Pleasant,Maggie Uritizie of Belle Vernon,Grace Hoenshel and Pauline Holod,both of Smithton,Mildred Kelly of Eighty Four and Helen Hoffman of Erie; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Friday,Aug. 7,at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Edward J. Crotty,pastor of Lynnwood Lutheran Church,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Shelby D. Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
