Mary Smith;80;of 656 Third St.;Monessen;was found dead Wednesday Nov.15;1972;in her home at 11:15 a.m. Monessen police found Mrs.Smith after being notified she did not respond to a friend’s knock at her door. Mrs.Smith was born in Selma;Ala.;June 21;1892 and had lived in Monessen for 53 years. Her husband;William;died Feb.4;1968. Surviving are a sister;Mrs.Alberta Johnson of Birmingham;Ala. and a nephew;Ernest H.Jackson;also of Birmingham. Friends will be received after 7 p.m.Thursday and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.Friday at the Draper Funeral Home;608 Sixth St.;Monessen;where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Phillip L.Greene;pastor of the Pilgrim’s Baptist Church of Whitsett;officiating. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Draper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
