Obituary

Mary L. Vasko, 91, of Belle Vernon (Lynnwood), died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, in The Uniontown Hospital. A daughter of the late John and Mary Krofchek, she was born in Lowber on Sept. 3, 1914. A lifelong resident of Lynnwood, she was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Neville Vasko, of Lynnwood, one brother, John Krofchek, of Coraopolis, two sisters, Margaret Fedora, of Belle Vernon (Fairhope), and Helen DiBasilio, of Monongahela, two grandchildren, Lara Simpson and husband Bryan of Warrenton, Va., and Lisa Steban and husband John, of Belle Vernon, and six great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Kristina and Tyler Steban and Aubrey, Braedon and Carter Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Vasko, in 1970, one daughter, Patricia Vasko, in infancy, and one sister, Ann Pesi. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, ww.fergusonfuneralhome.net, a Golden Rule Member Firm, 724-929-5300, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. A Blessing Service will be in the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 3, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Charles Esposito, parochial vicar, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday at 3 p.m., led by members of St. Sebastian Parish.
