Mary DeFazio Chesley (nee Falbo) passed away at the Presbyterian Senior Care Center; at the Willows in Oakmont; on March 18 at the age of 97. Mary was born on Sept. 24; 1912; in Kane; Pa. She later moved to Latrobe; then Belle Vernon; where she married Anthony DeFazio in 1931. Mary worked as the manager of G.C. Murphy Restaurant in Charleroi for many years. She was also the longtime treasurer for the Anita Garibaldi Society in Belle Vernon. After Anthony’s death in 1971; Mary moved to DeLand; Fla.; where she lived until 2001. In DeLand; Mary was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Mary loved having her family visit her in DeLand; and enjoyed riding her bike and playing bingo. In addition to Anthony; Mary was preceded in death by her second husband; Walter Chesley; in 2003; brothers; Nick and Joseph Falbo; and a sister; Janet Small; all of Latrobe. Mary is survived by her three children; Betty Blacka (Ed); of Plum Borough; Don DeFazio (Mary Lou); of Connellsville and Tom DeFazio (Jeanne); of Sewickley; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister; Genevieve Thomas; of Latrobe. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; Family Owned and Operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Simboli officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
