Obituary

Mary Hice, 86, of Perryopolis, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, in Victoria House II. Born in Monessen on Dec. 30, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Nicholos and Roselia Evanichko Dacko. She was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its Sisterhood. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a housekeeper in the Pittsburgh area. During World War II, Mrs. Hice served her country's war effort by working as a crane operator at Sharon Steel's Farrell Plant. She was a graduate of Rostraver High School. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Raymond E. Hice, five brothers, Charles Dacko, and Peter, Stephen, John and Michael Dutchko, and one sister, Anna Moore. She is survived by one son, Raymond Rice and fiancee Susan Schubert, of Republic, two grandsons, Jeffery Hice, of Pittsburgh, and Todd Hice and fiancee Rhonda, of Mill Run, one granddaughter, Stephanie Timms and husband Nelson, of Vanderbilt, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Rose Janus, of Monessen, one brother, Joseph Dutchko and wife Shirley, of Perryopolis, one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Betty Shutterly, of Belle Vernon, one daughter-in-law, Susan Beveridge and husband Charles, of Dickerson Run, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen (724-684-3700). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Hieromonk Father Gregory Woolfenden officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Parastas services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
