Mary E.Hoffman Stopford;72;of 222 Dull St.Fairhope;Belle Vernon;died Sunday;July 17;1977 at 7:30 p.m.in the Charleroi Division of the Mon Valley Hospital. Mrs.Stopford was born in Fayette County on Oct.12;1904;a daughter of the late George and Lydia Guiler Hoffman. She was a member of the Marion Presbyterian Church of Fairhope and the Fayette City Golden Age Club. She was preceded in death by her husband;Jesse Stopford Sr.on Jan.27;1968. Survivors include one son;Jesse Stopford Jr.of Monessen;two daughters;Mrs.Joseph (Gloria) Russo of Coal Center and Mrs.Nelson (Joan) Crouch of Roscoe;one brother;George Stopford of Belle Vernon;one sister;Mrs.Vera Schmidt of Belle Vernon;nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home in Fayette City after 7 p.m.on Monday and until time of the service on Wednesday;July 20;1977;at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
