Mary Catherine (Kay) Sullenberger Kalakewich;61;of 223 Main St.;Belle Vernon;died Friday;Feb.24;1989;at 3:49 p.m.suddenly in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born July 4;1927;in Whitsett;a daughter of the late Robert L.and Gladys Quinn Sullenberger. She was a former member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon. She resided in Belle Vernon for the past 33 years. She was an employee of Hills Department Store;Rostraver Twp.;where she worked as a cashier and ticketer. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;John Kalalewich;on Jan.12;1986;two brothers;William F.Sullenberger in 1984 and Floyd Sullenberger in 1926;three sisters;Leona Sullenberger in 1930;Alice Sullenberger in 1934 and Dernetta Knox in 1987;and a step-sister;May Teagarden. Survivors include four sons;John Robert and Paul Douglas Kalakewich;both of Belle Vernon;James Daryl Kalakewich of Monongahela;and Ralph Frank Kalakewich of West Palm Beach;Fla.;two daughters;Mrs.Mary Eileen Fauvie of West Palm Beach;Fla.;and Mrs.Dennis (Kathy Lynn) Sukel of Belle Vernon;nine grandchildren;five step-grandchildren;five brothers;James and Ralph Sullenberger;both of Tampa;Fla.;Charles and Jack Sullenberger;both of Monessen;and Edward Sullenberger of Greensburg;and one sister;Mrs.Otis (Shirley) White of St.Petersburg;Fla. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev.Donald Bowers;pastor of the First Christian Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
