Mary Mermigas Apodiakos;81;of 651 Tyrol Pass;Monessen;died Tuesday;Aug.31;1976 at 2 a.m.in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. She was born in Chios;Greece on March 9;1895 and had lived in Monessen the past 56 years. Mrs. Apodiakos was a member of St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church;Monessen. She was preceded in death by her husband;George J.Apodiakos;on April 15;1973. Surviving are two daughters;Mrs.John (Lamona) Sfakianos of Baltimore;Md.and Mrs.Nick (Catherine) Alatsis of Monessen;three sons;William;at home;John and Theodore;both of Monessen;one brother;George Mermigas of Chios;Greece;one sister;Mrs.Barbara Tragoutsis of Millbrae;Calif.;11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Rhome Funeral Home;Inc.;1209 Grand Blvd.;Monessen from 7 to 9 p.m.Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday at 12:30 p.m.;followed by additional rites at 1 p.m.in St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church;Monessen;with the Rev.George C.Bratiotis;pastor;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Trisagion services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Memorial Fund of St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church;Monessen;or to the Monessen Ambulance Service.
